Never tried catsup on the eggplant slices, but I'll try it now. Still eat me scallions and radishes with a small pile of salt on the side, dipping the veggies into the salt.
My Grandmother couldn't afford syrup so, French Toast was served with a salt shaker. Salted instead of sweetened French Toast is yummy. Also, niblet Corn mixed into your pancake batter and fried is also yummy. (You'd be surprised at the looks I get when I mention THAT)! We used to take left-over mashed potatoes and mix niblet corn in with them and then make potato pancakes and fry those too.
