Thanks for posting the URL for the article on StatNisland History. It is about time that someone wrote a book about our grand Island and especially about Westerleigh or "Prohibition Park"
It certainly was clear to me that there was something unique about living there. Growing up on Goodwin Avenue in Westerleigh, attending PS30 and going to church at Immanuel Union church will always be a part of me, and I am proud of it. In fact, just the other night on PBS, I saw a re-run of the series on "The West." They even mentioned that the Buffalo Bill Wild West show was performed on "Staten Island" before it went to Madison Square Garden. They actually showed a photo of the "Wild West Show" being performed right where my house was to be when the farm where it was performed was "developed" in the 1950s.
