I lived there till '63. Great place to grow up. I once told my brother Tottenville was a big town because we had a traffic light.

"No, Margie," says younger brother, "we had *two* traffic lights!" I'd forgotten the one at Yetman Avenue and Amboy Road, there by The Hut.

I remember that after you showed Miss Rhinehart, the librarian, your report card as proof you'd graduated from 8th grade, you could check out adult books.

Must have been late '50s or early '60s that NYC in its wisdom (?) {read lack thereof} once decided to put huge pieces of broken up street (Hylan Blvd.? I remember they were white pieces) on the beach as a "sea break." Sure, I thought to my young self, next hurricane they'll be all over the place and make more mess than they are intended to reduce. I was right.

E-mail me and maybe I can add more for the discussion. Wish I could be there!
