Old Town, just after Great Kills on the Rat Trap,* was a whistle stop. I remember _once_ and only once did the train stop there. And I rode the train five days a week for three years.
No houses to be seen at all. Nothing there but a wooden platform on each side of the tracks and a small road with a grade crossing with gates (maybe gates -- knowing NYC they decided nobody lived on SI so save the money for the gates!).
* Rat Trap = Staten Island Rapid Transit (their name, not mine)
I left in the summer of '63 as Da Bridge was being built. Great place to grow up. Musta been -- I mean, look at all of us now!!
