Did you know that there was a crematory near Goodhue woods. It was somehow associated with the old Quarantine Station.
A note from William T. Davis(dating of this note shows 1930, but a head note reads 1902) reads in part:
"The old crematory at the foot of Harbor Hill, in New Brighton, the odors from which so malevolently smote the aristocratic noses of the golfers on the hilltops there... was sold at auction by Borough President Cromwell on Monday, to Dennis Sullivan for $76.00., the original cost exceeding $6,000.00
The crematory was on the southerly side of Brighton Avenue where it commences to go up the hill opposite the present Goodhue playgrounds."
Interesting what everybody was playing around. You never know, huh?
