U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone of Minnesota is sponsoring a bill for federal funding to hire 100,000 school psychologists.
If we had 100,000 real communities and 100,000 mothers and fathers who could become active in dealing with troubled kids in school, would we need to hire psychologists?
Does this add to the functioning community or contribute to perpetuating a disfunctioning community.
Last year it was federal funding for 100,000 more cops across the land. Notice the big difference? Happier? Feel safer? Might as well have bought 100,000 more politicians.
Magic number, that, 100,000. Cures anything, I guess.
How much does that cost in real dollars over the next ten years, adjusted for inflation and cost of living increases.
Buy us some more happiness, please, Washington.
