Funny you should post this. Yesterday I took a bike ride through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which surrounds a good portion of the San Francisco Bay area of San Francisco, when I came upon a gathering of people in a national costume that I didn't recognize. There were also red flags with a horizontally oriented black cross on a white field. I didn't recognize that either. So I asked an attractive brunette who was in costume and keeping an eye on the group what the flag was. "Swedish" she said, "it's our Independence Day." I was moving, so I didn't get to ask the followup questions, such as, "Independence from what?" or "How come you're brunette when you're supposed to be blonde?"
But I did remember "Din skoal, min skoal, alla vaca flicka skoal," which I didn't get to say either, the only drink available being water.
