I generally have no idea what I'm talking about, but the older I grow the more it seems to me that I (and everybody else I know) have just as good a grasp on things as the paid pundits and analysts.
Take George Will: he's among the most articulate of men. He uses the language more beautifully than any living speaker of English--but as far as I can tell, he's never held a correct opinion about anything.
Pentagon analysts, and the high panjandrums of the think tanks seem to me just as bad. As do most of the folks who sit around the TV tables on Sunday mornings to pontificate. I see no reason why anyone should pay the slightest attention to any of them.
In fact, I'm coming around to the notion that The Gathering is the most reliable source of information about current events.
