Actually, speaking as someone who grew up half a block from Victory Boulevard ('40s to '60s), I never heard it called anything but Victory Boulevard. It still strikes me as odd to hear it had another name earlier. As the Richmond Turnpike, it was apparently the more direct route from Long Island or Manhattan to Philadelphia, instead of going around the Island thru New Joisey, which wise travelers tried to avoid even then. Those Jersey mosquitoes are murder.
When did they change the name to Victory Blvd? WWI? That would account for why us kids never knew the earlier names except from hysterical accounts of old timers. :) -rs
