funny you mention that house on elvin st. My mother in law lived there in an apartment on the top floor in the forties. The house next door to the left at the time I was growing up was lived in by an Italian family who lost their dad and my mom sustained them for a year or so. She shared all our food with them and anything else she could. This is the street we cut up to to get to school at 29 from Gower St. Then down Garden and to Manor and then we turned left on Manor Rd. Not to many other streets in the thirties. We kids all knew one another and it was one big group. We put on plays in the fields and had clubs and all got along really great. Kids today are really missing childhood with all the sports demands and t.v. etc.
