Grinders and Subs Robert Sheridan FawCawnahs bobsheridan@earthlink.net Come to think of it, we should add hero sangwidges to the list of StatNisland All-Time Delicacies.

How many times have you needed a Ham 'n' Swiss cheese with lettuce, tomato, and mustard on Italian to make it through the day? This was such standard SI fare that we've forgotten to mention until now.

And the variations, gobbaghoul (capacola), pro zhut' (prosciutto), coppa, Italian salami, Hebrew National salami, provolone, and a bunch of other good stuff from Mama Scalise's on Hylan Boulevard.

Submarines for after the submarine races...in the Tradition of Olde StatNisland.

Waytago, Neal

So the All-time StatNisland list of winners includes:

Pizza and Beer at Nunzio's
Crumbuns and Cawfee
Hero sangwidges and soda or beer
Hot dogs from Al Deppe's
Hamburgers from Bacchi's
Italian ices from Sedutto's
Spaghetti and meatballs with tomato sauce
Baloney sandwiches for school
Pitchers of beer at the Buddy-Buddy club on Clove Road

You guys are gonna have to add your favorites: food, drink, and places to enjoy them, preferably with an old friend, or a new friend you've just met, or are just about to meet. A lot of that occurred on Old StatNisland, too.
