Funny thing about slanguage! Stanley J. Singer sjsinger sjsinger@flash.net The reason that you could not discern any Texas accent is that all of the people who attended your seminar were really foreigners to Texas having migrated down here to reap the benefits of our prosperity. When I first arrived in 1942, there were 300,000 Houstonians covering an area 100 miles in diameter and you really had to get an interpreter to understand. It took years for my Mother to Understand what my Texas born wife was saying and because of that they were the best of friends.

Now my eastern relatives hardly understand a word I say and my neighbors from all parts of the globe really don't care.
