DO ANY OF YOU REMEMBER? Linda Sura Liza* firstname.lastname@example.org
I remember my mother mentioned the summer rugs of sisal, the curtain stretchers, and the Mary Jane shoes when she lived on Ingram Ave during the 30's and 40's.
I still remember penny candy. When I was in the first grade, I had a little boyfriend who used to go to "Pop's" candy store on Forest and Richmond Ave while I waited on the school side of PS22. He would buy red licorice for me and bring it back across Forest Ave for me.
I also when I got into the upper grades at PS 22 and we had a class sewing project. The girls had to make their own skirts and then we would dance around the May Pole at Clove Lakes park.
Those simpler times were sweet indeed!
