Today's afternoon paper had a front page foto of a young married couple, the kind referred to around here no longer as "yuppies" but as "dot com'ers," seated at the new Giants Stadium in downtown San Francisco. Paid $10,000 for a pair of season tickets way up in an outfield corner and couldn't see the game for all the railings and stanchions in the way.
Did I feel sorry for them, paying for tickets and not being able to see the game very well?
When I got married over 30 years ago, $10 grand would have more than paid the down payment of the future home we were saving for, with a couple kids thrown in to boot.
I felt about as sorry for them as seeing two stretch limos get into an intersectional collision.
