The Vermont House passed the revised Civil Union bill yesterday and Governor Dean signed it into law today. The law will take effect on July 1. At that time, same sex couples can be united under the law and enjoy the same rights and responsibilities as those couples united by marriage.
I'm very proud that our state was the first in the nation to extend these civil rights to gays.
