Irene I visited the Alice Austin House as part of a tour of homes on the Island. We also were shown homes on Todt Hill. Were you surprised as I was to see how small the Austin house is? Some years back the Advance carried a story of how she had to go to the Sea View Home as she had no funds to sustain herself. As a result, she became very bitter. Then a group of women formed the "Friends Of Alice Austen" and she was able to leave Sea View.
