memory blick Dan Blaine DBLIVIT blaine@eucom.mil Charlie: I've heard the name, but can't place it...was it a bakery? Along those lines, do you remember DeJong's bakery on Forest between Oakland and Bement?

It was owned by the Meyer family. I went to P.S. 45 with Butch Meyer. When ever someone in the class had a birthday, Butch's father would bake a cake large enough for the entire class and bring it to the school.

Later on at Curtis, Butch became the best (and possibly the only) distance swimmer on the swim team. I think he later joined the Navy and became a baker there...anyhow, that's what his yearbook caption said: "Baker in the Navy".
