I generally just hit the "O" button as soon as I can, because I can't stand going through all of that menu stuff. Sometimes they will tell you to hit the "O" and sometimes not. I do so anyway. What I find really upsetting is the effect this has on older folks. My dad is 86 and pretty sharp, but he is just not fast enough to keep up with the instructions. He dials too late and then gets an error message and gets all mixed up. Sometimes he hits the wrong key if he can't see the keypad well enough and ends up in the wrong place. He's trying to be independent and this frustrating way of doing business is not helping him to do so. I hate it.
