Hey JR~~~ Charlie Joseph CharlieJ firstname.lastname@example.org
I hate to burst your bubble, but the USS Hornet at Alemeda is not the Hornet that launched the B-25 strike. The strike was launched from CV-8. It was later severely damaged at the Battle of Santa Cruz. You can read the history of it here.
The one serving as a museum at Alameda is CV-12 which was named in honor of CV-8.
For a period during WWII, CV-8 Hornet was the ONLY carrier we had left in the Pacific. I wonder how many people realize just how close we came to losing that war in 1942.
