Sandy Ground Debra Romano(nee Holman) debradolls debradolls@aol.com What's happening up there these days? Upon my last visit to my old hometown I was traumatized! Claypit and Sharrots Roads were destroyed! 25 yrs ago, I lived in a four room salt block house about 200' in from Bloomingdale Rd. and that was gone too! Wasn't this land protected as Historical by the State?!?! Isn't ANYTHING sacred on Staten Island anymore? How I wish the planners had foresight and deeded "Forever Wild" (as is commonplace here in the Catskills) many now untraceable beautiful lands that I grew up with. I was born in '57 and grew up with farms, dirt roads, endless forests and grocers who knew you by name. I miss that era terribly.
