1918-Flu Staten Island Marguerite Rivas sipoet email@example.com
Hi all, Happy Y2k (almost)
I am reading a fascinating book about the 1918 influenza pandemic. The name of the book is Flu by Gina Kolata. I was wondering if anybody had any Staten Island family lore about the flu. I was reading a list of the Staten Island World War I dead and a good number of them died of pneumonia in 1918. I was wondering if these were really flu deaths. More American soldiers died of the flu than in battle during the Great War. I wonder how Staten Island fared in the pandemic. I had some relatives that died of it in Brooklyn.
