Okay, just checked on the Guy Fawkes thing. Found a great link. Am too much of a techno-idiot to figure out how to insert it into this message despite some previous coaching by Art. (Sorry, Art, I'm incompetent with such things) Anyway, Guy Fawkes day is celebrated with bonfires on Nov. 5. They burn effigies called "Guys" and the kids do go around with their "Guys" in tow begging "
A penny for the guy." They said it was similar to our Halloween. It commemorates the Gunpowder plot. I thought of it while reading the Ragamuffin thing and remembered T.S. Eliot's poem "The Hollow Men." Who knows? Related or not? Whaddaya think?
P.S. I just e-mailed the person who maintains the Guy Fawkes site and asked her opinion. Will let you know.
