It is possible that I knew the two young ladies you mentioned. What were their last names? A family named Perricone lived to the right of us and a man who was a member of the U.S. Coast guard and collected rumrunners on the other side. It was my privilege to be on his Coast Guard boat twice when he patrolled the entrance to the harbor. I didn't know that Hawthorne Avenue went all the way to victory Blvd. In my day it was a dead end street, beginning at Watchogue Road and ending just a few feet into a dense woods.
