I don't know if I can help you much but when we were kids, my parents would drive to Mt. Loretto on Sundays just for a Sunday drive. We lived on Bard Ave. near the ferry and Mt Loretto was a long way to drive back then (late 50's early 60's). They had a bull in a pen and we would go to see that. When I was in grammar school (St. Peter's), we would go there to put on Christmas plays for the orphans. If you have seen the Godfather movie then you have seen Mt loretto in the baptism scene. Don't know if this helps but those are my memories. I moved from SI 15 years ago to TX, only go back now for funerals and the occasional vacation.
