It was 1932 and Charles Darrow was out of a job as well as money. His wife was expecting a baby and so of course things were not looking good. (His occupation had been as a heating engineer) He did do odd jobs, but the family was barely making it.

Undaunted, Charles and his wife decided to take their minds off all of their troubles by spending their evenings making up a game where they could pretend to be millionaires. Having spent many pleasant vacations in Atlantic City, they made the board to reflect that area. Darrow carved little hotels and houses out of small pieces of wood.

They called the game....MONOPOLY!

The rest is ...history! *S*
