Genetic Engineering has repercussions that seem to go undiscussed. If a genetically engineered plant also proves to be no longer attractive to a given pest that pest may become extinct or move on to another plant and mutate. The ramifications of these things, extinction or mutation, are unmeasurable. I believe that it is a bad idea. Also not all hybrids are engineered, some are the results of watching nature achieve its own success.
The fact that we can genetically engineer enough food to feed a world that has to many people seems contradictory to the goal of maintaining the population to a reasonable level.
