SubTitle: Ethnic Expressions
Posted by: DAN BLAINE (100.53680@germanynet.de) on 11/07/1997@03:09hrs:
Anybody who grew up on Staten Island heard a lot ethnic expressions. Below are some of the ones I remember. They are spelled (SI-wise) phonetically. Can you name what language they came from and what they mean? Sorry, the ones I remember the best are not very polite, so beware of the "Net Nanny" when you write your answer! Also, please add any expressions you can think of to the list, as it will stimulate our memories of SI's "melting pot"...DAN
1. Doozy Pottsi
2. Pug mah Hone
3. Panya Doopah
4. Tuchis
5. Narrerbacker (hint: this is in english, but is used by a specific
ethnic group as an adjective to describe another sub-group of their
own.)
