In my family the crumb bun was confined pretty much to Sunday mornings and we dunked them, too. My favorites were the ones that the man in the Dugan's bakery truck delivered. I never cared much for the ones that my aunt would sometimes bring home from Cushman's in the ferry terminal.
One thing I haven't found since I left SI fifty years ago: a place keeps one of those big jars of pickled pigs knuckles behind the bar. Used to love those things.
