Does anyone remember the apartment buildings which where called the St. George Gardens. One side of the complex faced St. Peter's Church - Hamilton Ave. I think. I don't remember the other street but a Dr. Milton Edelman had his office in the corner apartment.
Quite a few young married couples lived there during the early 1960s'. Most of the husbands were city employees (Police,Fireman Sanitation) and when the Jersey Projects were built most moved there until they could afford their own home. The girls would have a monthly get together always held in someone's apartment. Once everyone started to move the group broke up. There are three of us who still keep in touch and every once in a while I sometimes wonder whatever happened to the rest.
At one time during the 1930s' this was supposed to be quite an exclusive address. Each building had a doorman and children were accompanied by their nursemaids. Last I had heard the buildings were
in complete disrepair and perhaps ready to be torn down.
