SubTitle: Welcome to Califawnia!
Posted by: rs on 5/06/1998@01:37hrs:
Well, Charlie left a posting last week that he was coming to California on business and wanted to check out da Caffe Roma, just to see whether I wuz pullin' his leg about hanging all his deathless prose on the wall, which of course I had done to keep the locals amused.
Then Charlie wanted to know about the weather out here.
So I looked up the weather page in the San Francisco Comical and emailed him that it looked fine except for a little rain in San Fran, and since he'd be forty miles down the Peninsula, where the weather is always, make that almost always, milder, he had nothing to worry about, except possibly for El Nino, which I just jokingly mentioned to cover my *ss just in case.
Well, the day before ol' Charlie arrives, Sunnyvale, which is as Great Kills is to FawCawnahs, i.e, the next town over, gets hit with a double tornado which tears down the better part of fifty houses, fences, trees, outbuildings, and the light. Someone's trampoline was found atop a tree a block away. Airplanes were being sent back whence they came.
Then today, a couple days later, we're having lightning and thunder showers, real sturm und drang like the summer squalls that we used to clear Great Kills Beach for, so no one would get hit by ligntning and we lifeguards could take a rest from our rest.
So, Charlie, sorry for the Bum Steer on the weather, hope you enjoy the local color, by which I mean El Nino, and that you make it up to San Fran before the Big One.
