The Late News was on the Radio and the Staten Islanders were all sitting half asleep in their comfy chairs when a loud noise woke them out of the doldrums and got their attention. Thid is Lowell Thomas speaking to you from the Staten Island Ferry, The Goldstar Mother which is just now pulling into the terminal. The loud din you are hearing is from the Marching band going round and round the ferry at this time.
The band is from the Police Benevolent Society of New York City and it is accompanied by a group of Radio City Rockettes and was joined at the New York side by the local Staten Island policemen from the 120th precinct and The Navy Mothers Clubs from Brooklyn, Manhatten and Staten Island and I also understand the Bronx. They seem to be carrying sighn saying SHE IS INNOCENT and banners saying NOY GUILTY.
They are out in force to get attention of any and all to support their close friend and benefactor, Marcene Brown Daniels now known as Old Tymer and a close confidante of Queen Regina and in the local case she is being charged with following to close. Whatever that is? I have never heard of charges like that. It is supposed to be a morals charge but to me it sounds more like a traffic violation. Sorry I can't seem to be heard as the parade is now leaving to march up to Borough Hall and protest what they all feel is an unjust charge. This is not only a beloved figure in all five boroughs but in high political circles as well. I will sign off for now and ------------
