SubTitle: Divine Providence

When I was a kid, growing up in Dongan Hills, my sisters and I played in the woods behind our house. Further back in what is now the Carmel Nursing home bordered by Wilson, Old Town Road, the Rail road and another street whose name escapes me was an old mansion in ruins. When we originally played there in the early fifties, there were still horses on the site. My sisters, friends and I knew it as the "Devine Providence". Does anyone know what it was originally and by what name was it know. I am not sure why we called it that, but someone must have referred to it as that. I also remember strolling up to "Prestels" soda shop with a quarter and getting a bag full of penny candy that would last us the entire day. You could get a whole "pizza" at Nino's for $1.25 or it was a .25 a slice.
