There were two guys - veterans of WWII - who ran the flying service there. I was 14 or 15 when I started biking out to the airport and hanging around the hanger. There was a Twin Beech there which had groundlooped and the guys were working on it - I would hand them things - wrenches and rags and such. Then one day one of them asked if I wanted to go up in one of the Piper J-3's they had. That was the beginning of flying for me.
