Dan the Black Widow was the Northrop P-61 twin engine night fighter. First American night fighter designed especially for that role.It was a success and carried Westinghouse radar and very heavy armament.
I noticed a mention of German POWs on the Isle . When the museum was in Fort Wadsworth they had a display concerning the Italian POWs who worked on the farms on the Isle ,their warm relations with the local people and that some of the POWs returned after the war.
