Walked into the Caffe Roma across from the Hall of Injustice in San Francisco with my two expat-StatNislanders, to the usual chorus of insults. Well, I'd rather be insulted than ignored. I mentioned this website and the fact I once referred to some Islanders as being long on intelligence and short on book-learning, only to meet the rejoinder that some of us seem to have education beyond our intelligence. Now, I know perfectly well that this had nothing to do with me, personally, undestand, but Marcovecchio and Dwyer had no difficulty drawing the connection. DFIs they call each other, the latter letter suggestive of their ethnic ancestry.

Which led me to recall that the high school experience on SI was loaded with insults, putdowns, retorts, jibes, digs, innuendo (Italian for a generally impossible act), and other examples of wit designed to make the recipient feel like less than two cents. Or perhaps you've forgotten.

The result is that I have concluded that Irreverance is an art form invented, developed, and perhaps perfected somewhere between St. George and the Conference House, probably in some high school. I figure it's a means of teaching survival technique. Whaddaya think? Bob (and don't tell me to go *@&! myself; I resent the innuendo).
