Although the NY Sunday Times is probably the best price per pound of print, the News and the Mirror had the Sunday Funnies...there was no Sunday Advance and the Star-Ledger was an also-ran that people only read when they got those free promotional copies sporadically. So here's some Sunday Funny trivia. (I've selected ones that are no longer in print)
1. He had no ears! (at least no one ever saw them) Hint: his name was a play on a French expression out of WWI. For extra credit: what kind of pet did he have and what was its'name? What was his girl friend's (wife's) name?
2. One his friends had a little chicken that followed him (the friend) around and ate the buttons that popped off his shirt. Another friend only had one side to his face (anyhow, we never got to see the other side). Name him and his two friends. Extra credit: what was the chicken's name?
3. His nemesis was a beautiful Chinese lady. Extra credit: name as many characters as you can that were in that strip.
4. Although they only had one (halfpage) panel, these little guys were really industrious!
5. These little critters would present you with a cornucopia of goodies if you did something to them. What did you have to do? Extra credit: what locality did they grow up in? Who was the strip named after? What was the main character's mother's name? There were at least two beautiful women in the strip... name them.
Please feel free to add your own "Sunday Funny" trivia questions to
this list...viel Spass!...DAN
