Yeah Dan
AAT is who I meant. If you ever see Communications, Mobile Radio Technology
or some of the other Two-Way radio magazines, you'll see their ads. I'd
heard it was owned by an NDHS grad, but didn't know who. Don't know the guy
you named. I believe they were an E.F.Johnson dealer. I was too.
Some of my techs and I had some wild experiences servicing two-way and
Marine. One time I was installing an antenna on the roof of a nearby college
building(gynasium, so it was high). It was very hot and very steep. I
disturbed a bees nest. In trying to avoid them, I slipped and slid down
the roof. The only thing that saved me from going 50 feet to the ground,
was a very wide gutter at the edge. Fortunately it was solid, not a simple
metal thing.
One of my guys was installing a new radar on a tug. He was to make the
trip with them across the Cheasapeake Bay and back, but they lost an engine
over there. Had to drive 150 miles each way to go get him.
Lots other stories, when it's not so late.
Just for info, even tho I closed the business, I still keep my hand in.
I still have three 450 repeaters in operation and take care of the repeater
customers.
