Tch, tch, tch, Dan, using the pejorative "Chinaman" (an otherwise perfectly good descriptive); perhap in that little burg outside of Stuttgart where you ferment cabbage into kraut they don't have any descendants of the former Celestial Empire, the Middle Kingdom, China, etc., but here in SF where we have whole sections called Chinatown and New Chinatown, you can't say "Chinaman" unless you want one of them coming after you with a loaded .45 cal. Glock or the functional equivalent, what with Chinese knives (what you are terming a cleaver) being long out of style as an offensive weapon. Nor would any SFer ever use the old SI term for going out for a Chinese dinners as "going to the Chinks." Just thought I'd bring you up to speed, DB. Kraut, Frog, Potatoe, and Macaroni fall into a similar category, but I'll leave that up to the rest of you. Happy thanksgiving to all, by the way, and thanks for all of the back-and-forth, out of which I get a great kick. Bob
