As a kid who used the ferry as the school bus for 4 years I ate a lot of ferry hot dogs, not bad when covered with kraut and mustard... I learned early in my freshman year that the coffee might smell good but you didn't want to drink it! On those cold days on the way home I'd stop in the coffee shop that was located on the second floor of the Manhattan terminal and get a hot chocolate. This was not just any old hot chocolate but started as soft vanilla ice cream that was carefully placed in the cup so it hugged one side till it was above the top of the cup by about 2 inches. Then steaming hot chocolate was added... it was pure heaven... Another treat I can remember was from the nut shop that was right across the terminal from the coffee shop... I would get 30 to 50 cents worth of nuts that at that time would last for the entire trip... And If you really wanted to spoil your supper you could get a big slice of pizza in the pizza place that was located under the stairs to the terminal... Bruce... BTHS 66
