Funny thing about StatNislanders is that you can't keep us down. We move around and go places. All over the World, in fact, spreading Civilization, such as it is. So I don't think we're apt to be kept in a box. What I think happens is like what happened in the Ferryboat posting where someone remembered being on the boat when JFK was assassinated. Immediately I thought of where I was, but didn't want to post it under Ferryboats. Then someone posted a "Where Were You When JFK Was Murdered" posting and I thought that was good, and responded to it.
What I'm learning (this is the first experience I have with contributing to a webpage) is that it's like a cocktail party where the conversation drifts naturally and moves onto completely different topics. Old ones get stale and no one hangs around or contributes; it even gets tiresome looking into the old ones because the thread has clearly run out. The topics seem to have a limited life-span; a couple dozen postings and move on. I've decided not to bemoan it further, since no one has any control over it. Folks are either moved to contribute, or they're not.
When I notice I've mis-spelled something (frequent), it bugs me because by the time I catch it, it's way too late. I don't feel like going back when I writing whatever I'm writing because it looks right the first time, usually, so off it goes. Then the boo-boo. I wouldn't worry about it. When someone puts all this into a book which becomes the Living History of Old SI they can hire a cpoy ed*ter to hit the SpellChecker function to comb out the bugs.
At any rate, I don't think something has to happen on SI for it to be a welcome posting. It's welcome if it occurs to a StatNislander anyplace in the world, or if he or she thinks it. Whaddaya say to that, old friend?
