Charlie, I loved Pompeii and spent a day there taking as many slide fotos as I could, especially of the Priapic old Romans, who must have been almost as horny as the Old Staten Islanders. Incidentally a favorite quote of mine comes from the Director of Archaology in Pompeii, Baldassare Conticello, which I pulled from the NY Times one day. He was fighting with the local council which wanted to build a highway over his dig, which he opposed, naturally. An assistant told him he had the fight all but won at the upcoming hearing, because all the rational arguments were on his side. "The period of maximum danger is when all the rational arguments are on your side," he replied. So true.
I'll tell you another dig I spent a lot of time at: The Agora in Athens, below the Acropolis. When I went to Greece, I went to Ancient Greece. Bob
