Dan! Dan!!
How can you say that about the South Shore not having electricity after
my 3rd rail story. As one of the few old South Shore hicks writing regularly
to this forum, I would take umbrage, if I knew what it meant. (Or where I
could get one). How many others of you can claim the joys of playing in
the garbage dump that is now Great Kills beach. Or getting impetigo
from swimming in the water before the beach was official. Or crawling
under Hylan Blvd through a storm sewer for the fun of it. Or romping
through the woods and forests of Bay Terrace and Great Kills (also
Oakwood Heights and New Dorp). Or skinny dipping in the clear(?)
waters of the stream through Fairyland. Ah, yes we South Shoreites
have memories too, they jist ain't as many of us.

P.S. I also have some memories of the Northern Island, too. Having had
a couple of girl friends from Stapleton and one from Rosebank, I spent some time
there, too. I hadda' go North for girl friends, most all the South Shore girls
wuz my cousins.
