Bob: your story brought back a memory that shares that view of
cynicism. My closest friend in Florida used to be the County Judge
in a central Florida county. He was a great judge! He set the punish
ments to match the crime. For example if some kid got caught smoking
pot, he would put him on the beach clean-up crew or have him do
maintenance on the fire hydrants under the supervision of the firemen.
This man was born and raised in the South...but he's Jewish! As a New
York goy I feel more Jewish than he...he has no concept of Yiddish humor
or the religious customs of his Religion. When the time came for
re-election, the preacher of the local (biggest) church actually
preached in his sermon that his flock should vote for a real
"Christian" and not for some anti-Christ! My friend lost his bid for
re-election and his "good ole boy" opponent got to put the punishments
back to what they were in the "good old days". I wouldn't be suprised
if they now have pot smoking kids on chain gangs...DAN
