In one of the postings, someone mentioned submarine nets being used on Staten Island. Where were they placed? Across the Narrows?

Also, I remember as a small child being with my mother at the "beach" in Clifton in front of the "Alice Austen" house and a fisherman pulled in a case of hand grenades. Whether they were American or German, I don't remember...this had to be about 1943-44...DAN
