Dan, I am a native Islander (Port Richmond) and went to St. Adalbert's school (1956-64) when it was a Polish school taught by Polish nuns. We were even taught Polish as a language until the 6th grade. Unfortunately, I was not of Polish desent, so I learned what it was like to be a "minority" at a young age. I happened to be of German desent, so I was directly responsible for everything that Hitler did in Poland even though my great-grandparents were born here!
