From watching the ships back when it appears there are many 'squids' from the island, including me. I went back for a while but found the call of adventure and travel, even though the pay was low a big attraction. The generation most of us are from stressed a job with security, that included cops, fire, trash or military! I retired about eight years ago and found Norfolk my last port of call unacceptable for a second career due to the quick turnaround of employees. I did a search for a place where my skills were in demand and that I would agree to live and wound up in central VA.
