A family member was an office worker there for many years. A city run old age home for the poor or on Social Security. Considered a good place by many of the residents and staff. My Sunday School class would visit and sing Carols during the holidays. Much of the island had a healthy respect and intrest in the aged. The had a wonderful Bazzar in the late spring, and ball fields where many of the Babe Ruth and other young would play. The old folks loved sthat and would come out in numbers to see visitors. It was associated with the other Hospital across the street by the city. there were many more nice things about in than the story about Willie Sutton.
