I was also a "Parkie" for four years - in the summers of 63, 64, 65 & 66.
As some of you may remember, we had to go to some Parks Dept bldg in Brooklyn Heights (Cadman Plaza) in the middel of the winter and stand in line to fill out an application. Because of some family connections, I eventually got a call to go the Arsenal Bldg in Central Park for processing and fingerprinitng, etc. When they told me I was going to work in Coney Island (remember this is pre-VN), I again called my source and got assigned to SI.
I worked in Silver Lake Park& Golf Course, Demattei playground in Rosebank, Wolfe's Pond Park and the Staten Island Expressway (before the West Shore was ever open)
They were great jobs and it was nice to be outside.
While working in Wolfe's Pond, I think Playboy Magazine came to do a fashion shoot. I've never seen some many cops from the 123 in the park at the time.
Does anyone remember the difference between a SPH and a SPM.
