If memory serves me right, I believe the first fare ever paid on the bridge was done so with a JKF half dollar. A few "guys" from Curtis High rented tuxedoes, and drove over in a top-down white Cadallic convertible, as the first to traverse the bridge. (Someone please verify or dispute this.) Does anyone remember who they were? I'm thinking perhaps some guys from Tompkinsville.
Also, I believe the original $0.50 fare was intended to be eliminated
once the bridge paid for itself and subsequently be toll free.
