Bob
This is not so much of a memory story, but it's cute. I told this story
eons ago on this forum, but I'll tell it again. Several years ago, my
nephew was visiting from Finland. We picked him up at JFK airport. He was about ten at the time, and
was one of those kids who ask questions constantly. His
Mother warned me, he had a thing for bridges and was really looking forward to seeing
the VN. So I studied about it. I knew how long it was, how high, how
must it cost a whole bunch of facts about it. (Don't ask me now, I've
forgotten most of them).
As we came around the bend on the Belt Parkway, the bridge came into
view. His eyes went wide. He said, 'Wow, How heavy is it?'
I didn't know that one. Of all the questions he could've asked, he asked
the one I never saw anywhere!
So I ask you, Bob, since you were up close when it was built ~ How heavy
is it? Maybe after all the years, I can answer the kids question!
